On October 11th and 12th, The Karate School hosted a seminar with Senior Master of the Arts, Mr. Richard "Huk" Planas. On Saturday, Mr. Planas met with junior students at The Karate School, and spent Sunday working with senior Brown Belts and Black Belts from all around the valley. Throughout the seminar, Mr. Planas placed heavy emphasis on mastering the basics and understanding and adhering to the rules of motion. The importance of applying these basics as a foundation for our study of Ed Parkers Kenpo Karate could not be overstated. Mr. Planas also demonstrated the need to understand the actions in our techniqes, and the reaction they will generate from an opponent. He emphasized the need to train as you would fight, and to accurately simulate realistic reactions to our techniques when we train. Incorporating these priorities in our training will enable us to achieve our goals and excel as Kenpoists. Mr.Planas made a lasting impression on all of those in attendance, and we all look forward to future opportunities to study with the master. Below is a slide show of photographs taken during the seminar. There are about seventy pictures in the slide show, we hope you enjoy the presentation!
