A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM SIFU DAVID CALHOUN;

I CAN SHOW YOU NOTHING GREATER THAN THIS

I would like to personally welcome you to the most important page of this website. Although I and the other people mentioned on other pages of the site hold some level of importance within the circles we find ourselves in, I would like to introduce you to the most important person to ever live, Jesus.

As I write, I am intimidated in the thought that I might somehow fail to fully express to you the majesty of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. And yet I am compelled to share with you, in whatever limited capacity I am able, the love and grace offered to all of mankind by God through the Son, Jesus.

I realize that this website is accessible to people from all walks of life across the world. People of diverse beliefs and religious persuasions will potentially come across this letter. May I say to each of you, the God of heaven loves you, and desires to have a personal daily relationship with you.

A couple things for you to ponder…First, I believe God hates religion. Let me explain. Religion is those “things” we do in order to be considered by God as good or worthy of His love. God is not waiting for us to earn His love. The bible says that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. God desires that we would serve Him out of our love for Him, having first come to an understanding of how much He has loved us. Religion is dead. It is habit. It is going through the motions. The bible says we must be born again, made alive to live a new life in Christ Jesus. Second, Christianity is the only faith which says to each individual that you, on your own merit, are unable to attain a right standing before God. All other faiths tell you that with hard work and perseverance, you can elevate your spiritual status to a point worthy of heaven or “enlightenment.” Christianity says, to be very blunt, that each of us has sinned, that we cannot atone for our own sins, and that we deserve, based on that sin, to be separated from God, ultimately, to go to hell. Christianity stands alone in what it says about mankind. And it is that “offensive” message that causes people to stumble, to balk at the starkness of God’s assessment of us.

But here is the “good news.” Christianity, or a faith and trust in Jesus (sidenote..ever notice that you can talk with folks about God all day long, but the name of Jesus makes people uncomfortable? Hmmmm) is able to save our eternal souls. How? The bible says that Jesus came to earth to live an unblemished, sinless life, which he then offered as a perfect sacrifice, or payment, for the sins of every person. In essence, we owed a debt we could not pay, and he paid a debt (ours) he did not owe. And furthermore, death did not end the gift Jesus offers, he was raised from the dead to assure us of life after death. The most famous verse in the bible is John 3:16; For God so loved the world that he gave His only Son, that whoever would believe in Him would not perish, but would have everlasting life. That verse explains to us the love of God. But my favorite verse is the one immediately following, John 3:17; For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that through Him the world might be saved. God does not desire anyone to miss out on His love. He has made the way straight, and He has paid the passage. Won’t you consider today God’s love? Pray to God for His Spirit to begin to open your spiritual eyes to these truths.

If I can help you in any way better understand the wonderful message I have begun to explain here, please contact me. My deepest desire in my life and through my karate is to point others to my great God. Our time here on earth will be over before we know it. Eternity is real, there is life after death, there is a heaven and a hell. Our time on earth is to be spent learning of God’s love, and in learning how to love Him in return. Let’s use the time wisely!

In sincerest hope and the love of Jesus Christ,

David Calhoun
